The website I chose a couple weeks ago Zero to Three has so many sections that helps me in my line of work. The website in general is a dictionary to working with the age group of infants. It helps me understand why they are the way they are, and many activities and different things I can do to help their development. The section 'explore our topics' helps me because they have subsections underneath dedicated to certain areas that helps parents and caregivers understand children a little better.
One sub section that helped me recently is the "challenging behaviors" telling me why children have tantrums, helping them channel their aggression, how to help them cope as well. "As young children are just beginning to develop self-control, challenging behavior is common and expected in the years form birth to three" (Zero to Three, n.d.). The Idea of screening newborns I had never heard of before until I got a newsletter from this website telling me the importance of a babies first test. Without those test children can go their first years without even knowing if they have a condition of disease that could have been treated a long time ago if they just had that screening. I never knew the importance of those test until now, I wouldn't want my child going through any pain that could have been resolved by one test at birth.
I can see there is a tab for organizations or politics who want to help fund or make a policy in the name of zero to three children. It actually shows stories and services around the world that state legislators are making in the name of early childhood. I know now that there are options for people who actually want to advocate for children during their younger years when it really counts.

Angelique, I chose Zero to Three organization also and they have a lot of resources for early childhood. Children need to be screened to give the educators an idea of what children may need help with to learn. Great blog!
ReplyDeleteAngelique, I enjoyed reading your blog. Infants are definitely a mystery. I want to learn more about them as well. I wouldn't want my baby going through painful test either. Great blob!
