Child poverty is not a subject that should be taken lightly! Since I didn't hear back from my professionals I choose to look at the website that was given to us for this assignment. One thing I learned is that, "while an adult may fall into poverty temporarily, falling into poverty in childhood can last a lifetime – rarely does a child get a second chance at an education or a healthy start in life" (). Anything can effect us during childhood and mold us into the adults we are today. Which is why its so important children grow up in a loving, safe, and caring environment.
I learned how important a child's upbringing can be and what affects not only them but future generations to come if they don't change the road they are traveling. We cant ignore the fact most of the children that are always in trouble grew up in a dysfunctional environment. Or something tragic happened in their childhood that changed them either way we have to take into consideration the importance of showing our kids attention and the love and education they deserve.
Finally I learned that we can help change the rate of poverty and the fact it keeps rising over the years. So many parents are being laid off put out on the streets and having to struggle to survive with their families. We need to build more shelters, community centers for children after and before school, parent involvement activities or meetings. We all need to be educated on anything that will help our next generations prosper.

Your post touches on a lot of true facts especially when you spoke about a child in poverty can last a life time. I agree, it can last a lifetime, however there are a lot of success stories of children who fight through the poverty and become successful professionals. I am a witness.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is time to construct buildings (roofs over the needy heads). Whatever we can do to help, please help. I think people have to have a burden or concern for others' needs to really reach out and fight for them. The next point you brought out was getting educated. This posting was so good. Loved it!
