The podcast I chose to follow is called, "Angela Watson's Truth for Teachers". From this episode I learned some very good tips and practices I can put into effect in order to make sure I'm getting the proper rest and self-care I need. Teachers are no help to a student if they aren't in the right state of mind to teach, and that can be for many reasons such as lack of sleep, lack of eating, lack of exercise, lack of training, and many more reasons. Sometimes I get stressed out in class because I don't have all the materials needed to properly teach my students, yes they come first but if I'm not being supplied with the materials to teach them with then my state of mind is being jeopardized. Self-care goes a long way instead of just sitting around at home watching t.v. like I do I could watch an educational documentary and improve my skills as a teacher. This podcast is meant to, "speak life, encouragement, and truth into the minds and hearts of educators and get you energized for the week ahead" (Watson, 2017).
For part two of this assignment I chose the "Zero to Three:National Center for Infants, Toddlers, and families". The reason behind my decision is I am a Infant teacher, and this website is so informative on how to deal with certain stages a baby goes through. I subscribed to the news letter titled "Baby Steps" because it covers, "sleep problems to challenging behavior, and everything in between" (Zero to Three, 2017).

Nice post! it is a good idea to learn how to get a good rest especially if we are working with children.
ReplyDeleteThis was a great blog entry. I agree with you too, that we as teachers have to make sure that we are taking care of ourselves because this his a high stress profession. I used to be a Infant teacher as well and it used to drain me mentally, so I had to learn work-life balance.
ReplyDeleteAngie, I like that you chose "Angela Watson's Truth for Teachers." This was so sincere and caring. A reminder to rest (recess) is just as important as work. Take time to relax the mind, body, and soul. Great Post!
DeleteIf I were to take your suggestion to rest, I would be so much better health-wise. When I was in college back in the day I went straight through in order to get my bachelor's degree, straight out of high school. Since I am used to doing so with just about everything I do in life, I am still in the habit of trying to do it again and again. I feel okay though; but rest is in order. Thanks again for your post!
