At my place of work there are many different backgrounds, beliefs, and ways of life compared to what I'm use to seeing. My mom raised me right though, I have never judged or looked down on anyone for believing something different than me. I wont lie and say I don't find their views on things interesting but I have never treated or looked at them any differently. One of my close friends at my job is Asian and the only one there but she is like family to me. I treat, and talk to her the same way I would anyone else there. However we do have a staff member who is from India who doesn't eat meat so we have to accommodate her when we have our staff meetings. When I sit and think about it there is one person I don't talk to that often mainly because I never understand what she is saying because she talks so fast and her accent is so thick. She's from Africa and she can come off a bit rude at times so you have to know how to talk and translate what she says.
I could be better with listening, I don't do that very well sometimes when it comes to working and talking.
I could also not give off the vibe that I'm not interested when people are talking about something that happens to not interest me.
Most of all eye contact, I don't really give eye contact unless all my duties have been done which could come off as me not paying attention.

Hi Angelique, there are many diverse cultures on my job as well. As a child, I didn't come in contact with people from other cultures. I was taught to be respectful and kind with all people.I don't always agree with some of the ways they communicate but I am respectful when I disagree. I understand how not making eye contact could come off as not listening or paying attention. I believe eye contact let a person know you're listening and care about the message being conveyed. I believe I need to work on the eye contact a little more as well. Thanks for sharing.
